Parent Managed Committee

A key feature of Community Kindergartens is the involvement of families within the school. In collaboration with the teaching staff, a Parent Managed Committee (PMC) help keep the school running. The committee consists of volunteering parents of the children enrolled in the school.

The PMC help organise and run several events over the school year such as fundraisers, open days and busy bees. Members of the committee have the opportunity to contribute their skills, talents and ideas to improve the school environment and education of their children. It is a fulfilling role where you can develop lifelong skills and friendships. You get to be a part of a community and have a profound impact on your child’s kindergarten experience.

In addition, we have financial and legal obligations to accomplish to maintain the functionality to the organisation and act as an admin for the school. It is the committee’s responsibility to do tasks such as:

  • Pay bills and complete the annual audit

  • Seek grants to help finance large projects.

  • Market the kindy to gain the appropriate number of enrolments each year

  • Network with appropriate groups within the community

  • Keeping our social media active and website updated

  • Organise events within the kindy and even externally (e.g holding a market stall)

Committee meetings are held approximately twice a term where you can directly contribute your ideas and suggestions on how to improve the kindy.

If you have a passion to make a difference and assist in keeping community kindergartens running for future generations, we would love to have you volunteer during our AGM held in February.
