Frequently Asked Questions

Does Kindaimanna have high fees?

Like a public school, Kindaimanna is Government-funded, meaning there are no up-front costs to attend. Parents can provide an annual voluntary contribution of up to $60 that goes towards resources for the school. Uniforms are not compulsory, however, we do offer shirts and hats with the local Kindaimanna logo for purchase. Second hand uniforms may also be available.

Is Kindergarten compulsory?

It is only compulsory to start school from Pre-Primary, so if you attend Kindaimanna you are still guaranteed a place in the Pre-Primary program of the school in your catchment area.

Is there a boundary restriction?

Kindaimanna accepts enrolments from all areas. Families have travelled up to 30 minutes to enjoy the benefits of our Community Kindy. If we reach over 20 enrolments, enrolments in the catchment area will take first preference.

How will my child cope with transitioning to primary school?

We have several parents who have had experience with their children in Kindaimanna and at mainstream schools. They have noticed their children who attended Kindaimanna coped a lot better socially and academically when they started pre-primary than their children who attended kindy in mainstream school. The gentle approach of our program for their first year of schooling at kindaimanna allows the children to be better prepared and develop a positive attitude towards learning at school.

How can I drop of my child if I have other children?

Flexibility on pickup and drop off times can be negotiated with the teaching staff to accommodate the time needed to drop older children off at school. If you are working, contact us to find out what services offer before and after school care in the area for your child.

Do you have a before and after school service?

School Mates in Harold King Centre is able to offer this service for Kindaimanna. Please contact them directly on their availabilities. Azazel.carey@gmail.com

When do enrolments close?

The Department of Education require Enrolment Application (Part A) by the end of Week 1 of Term 3 for the following school year. If your application is successful, you will need to fill in the Enrolment Form (Part B) by Week 4 of Term 3. Unlike mainstream schools, Kindaimanna require at least 16 enrolments by this date to be guaranteed teaching staff and funding to remain operational for the following year. If you have missed the deadline, It is still possible to enrol after this date as we will likely have been granted an extension or possibly an exemption to continue if we have placements left to fill.

If spots are still available for the current year, it is not too late to enrol your kindy-aged child to experience the benefits of attending Kindaimanna. Contact us if you would like a tour of the school prior to making your decision.
